An existing home can be transformed by a renovation, new kitchen, updated bath and/or addition to be the home of your dreams. Existing homes possess many desirable features that can be preserved and enhanced. Often the location is reason enough for the work to be done.

Renovating and adding on to an existing home requires the skills of an experienced builder. The staff at The Nicklaus Group has over 100 years combined experience within the Custom Homebuilding and Remodeling Industry.

Our staff and team of consultants and contractors have experience with this type of construction and enjoy working with our clients in this very specialized area of work. Fitting the new into the old takes planning and understanding so that the design is pleasing and the end result meets the desired goals of the renovation and addition program.

“The experience of taking your existing home and changing it to meet your current needs and desires is very exciting. Our step-by-step guide to designing and building makes it easy”

Your present home that you have enjoyed can, through a renovation and with additions, become the perfect home for you and your family. If only the thought of a construction project in your home was not so intimidating. With our combined years of experience, The Nicklaus Group understands your concerns. But we also know that remodeling your own home can be the most rewarding experience ever. Let us show you just how easy it can be.

The First Step

The first step is the evaluation of each project for renovation and/or addition by one of our design consultants.

There is no cost to our clients for the initial meeting and review of the house, site and preliminary program.

The Second Step

If desired, working together with our client through our construction program, we assemble a team of professionals to plan and design the construction. This work is done under a separate design agreement between the client and The Nicklaus Group. Upon completion of the design a detailed proposal is presented. We then proceed with the construction.

This process of planning and building results in a timely completion of an excellent plan at a cost that is within the budget that the client has provided.

For the client who has plans for the renovation and/or addition, The Nicklaus Group staff will review the program and plans for construction and then complete a detailed proposal for the work desired and then proceed with an agreement for construction.

Design/Build Advantages

We offer our clients the benefits of the design/build approach to remodeling.

Before design/build, you had to find and hire an architect to design the project and then find and hire a builder to construct it. This can be a time consuming two-step process and if things go wrong you can find yourself uncomfortably in the middle between your architect and builder.

The better way is to hire a company like The Nicklaus Group that provides design/build services and an integrated set of all the services you will need for your project. From needs analysis to concept to construction to completion and beyond, for the entire project, design/build provides everything in one neat package.

There are many advantages to the design/build process for homeowners. Some of these are:

  • Ease and Simplicity – You only have to find, select and deal with one company.
  • Accountability – If something goes wrong, you won’t find yourself caught uncomfortably between your architect and builder, because we are both.
  • Improved Communications – When working with a design/build company, you don’t have to worry that the construction company doesn’t really know what you are looking for because most of your discussions have been with your architect. And you won’t have to go through the process of going over all of the information a second time. With design/build, the design process is more integrated with the construction staff and estimating. The architect gets feedback from construction about ways to fine tune the design to make it more feasible.
  • Enhanced Cost Certainty – Because builders and remodelers know more about building costs than architects, you can expect most reputable design/builders to be able to design your project and work with you until you are satisfied with the design and budget — at no additional design cost. If you were working with a separate architect, they would likely charge you to redesign the home if you receive construction estimates for the project that exceed your budget. Additionally, with the design/build process, the architect gets more immediate feedback on construction costs so they don’t waste time developing designs that can’t possibly be built at or near your desired budget.
